Help for Sunshine Coast businesses

A NEW one-stop shop for business is the centrepiece of a major overhaul of council’s economic development functions.
As part of its commitment to the Jobs for the Coast campaign, Sunshine Coast Council announced establishment of a new Economic Development Advisory Board and will consolidate its Economic Development Branch with its small business support agency, Sunshine Coast Enterprises (SCE).
The board will provide an independent source of advice from respected business leaders and will include board members of SCE. It will create a single entry point to council for information on starting a business, moving a business to the region or accessing business support services.
Small businesses, which make up more than 95per cent of all businesses in the region, and are the backbone of the economy, are struggling with higher operating costs, uncertain markets and the flow-on impacts of recent events in Queensland.
