Greening up Sunshine Coast Tourism Businesses

Fifteen local tourism businesses are taking the first steps to improving their environmental practices, at the Business Events Sunshine Coast (BESC) Sustainable Regions workshop.  Initiated by BESC, the program will help businesses become more green and position the Sunshine Coast as a more sustainable destination.

BESC successfully secured funding from Tourism Queensland as part of its Tourism Capacity Program to offer the program to local tourism operators.

The Sustainable Regions program will enable Sunshine Coast businesses to assess their commitment to sustainability and environmental practices, and identify and implement initiatives that will help to reduce their environmental footprint.

Participants will have access to the international environmental benchmarking program, EarthCheck Assessed, to compare their resource use against other similar businesses and identify areas for improvement.
